Our Environmental Conscience

We are a flight company, with a very strong environmental conscience, operating from one of the most spectacular flight zones in Wales, around the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. We work alongside the National Park Authority in ensuring that both our regular and proposed flight routes avoid causing any disturbance to wildlife. In addition to this we are members of Arena Network (www.arenanetwork.org) and the Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum (www.pembrokeshirecoastalforum.org.uk)

Our Environmental Policy is set out below:

Environmental Policy (2007/8)

Based at Haverfordwest Airport since 2004, HeliCharter Wales provides professional, knowledgeable and accommodating pleasure and charter helicopter services. The business operates a single Bell 206 JetRanger helicopter. The business leases its premises from Pembrokeshire County Council who operate the airport. The lounge is situated in the Medway Building, a prefabricated building situated at the airfield since before 1980. The business also holds a lease for one bay in a hanger at the airfield. Refuelling activities are performed under contract through Pembrokeshire County Council.

The key environmental impacts arise from fuel usage and air emissions, and the maintenance of the helicopter.

The business is aware of the minimising its environmental impact through careful planning of routes. Through being an active member of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum and positively working with the Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park Authority, Helicharter Wales continues to demonstrate its commitment both to local communities and to the local environment.

Electric and water usage within the office is minimised wherever possible, waste paper is segregated and recycled, general waste is disposed of legally to landfill.

Helicharter Wales commits to:

  • The principle of prevention of pollution
  • Complying with all environmental legislation
  • Continual improvement of environmental issues
  • Considering energy efficiency when purchasing new office equipment.

This Environmental Policy will be annually updated and will be made available to all interested parties.

Helicharter Wales has been awarded the Green Dragon Environmental Standard Level II. This looks at understanding environmental obligations, involves identifying and complying with environmental legislation and maintaining environmental records. As we work towards making Helicharter Wales a carbon neutral company, we will also progress Level III of the Green Dragon award system. www.greendragonwales.com

Our work in progressing carbon neutral status, is being carried out in conjunction with the Carbon Neutral Company (www.carbonneutral.com). Further details on projects and initiatives are available for perusal on their website. We will keep our passengers abreast of our progression via our news section on the website.
